Better Yourself Daily!!

I used to think you only wrote or blogged when you did something "huge," or had an accomplishment or interesting tid-bit about yourself to share. However, the journey of life can often be mundane.

This year I have set goals, dreams, and aspirations! Those all sound redundant or similar you may say!?!?

But, I truly believe bettering yourself daily is key! Emerson says it best: "“Life is a journey, not a destination.” We truly should live in and cherish EACH moment, no matter how mundane it seems. They are important to us as individuals. Our short journeys/ stories, make up a chapter in the larger book of our life.

Keeping with this "literature" kick, I will now look at the definition(s) for goals, dreams, & aspirations--since I have several of those these days!

goal

[gohl]

noun
the result or achievement toward which effort is directed; aim; end.

An aspiration takes it a step further, since it is a strongly desired goal!

aspiration

[as-puh-rey-shuh n]

noun
1.
a strong desire, longing, or aim; ambition:a goal or obje-ctive that is strongly desired

And finally, dream has a mixed bag of definition(s)!

dream

[dreem]

noun

a vision voluntarily indulged in while awake; daydream;re-verie; an aspiration; goal; aim; a wild or vain fancy.

I am aiming at certain specific goals with a lot of effort! I have a strong desire and ambition to achieve those goals and no matter how wild my "fancy" is I will continue dreaming about them until I fail several times and feel I have sufficiently given my goals, aspirations, and dreams proper attention or achieve one or several of them!
People generally make strong resolutions for themselves in the new years' beginnings, and then leave them at the wayside when stress comes along or unexpected events arise! We must stop ourselves from giving up! Instead, possibly choose a new path or try again at what you did not succeed at the first *10,000 times! It all depends on how much whatever it is you are working towards means to you!

My health and future career mean EVERYTHING to me! I have been working out since last February and changed my entire lifestyle (eating, cooking, calorie counting, and activity wise). I did not succeed some days. However, I began my journey at 165 and am currently at 130.2. My goal is 110 currently! I am exercising, cooking and eating correctly, and most immediately am detoxing and cleansing with Jillian Michaels! I will achieve this goal early on this year. I may have setbacks and stressful days, but I will not quit.
This girl was me yesterday. I had done an hour in the gym, but I had a rough morning so I decided I'd keep pushing to rid myself of other stressors. I took my new fleece covered leggings for a 22 minute walk around the block (and it was freezing)! I threw a ball 10 times to my "neighbor" dog Max! And then I jogged for the last 2 minutes. I want to keep pushing myself until I can jog and then RUN the entire time. I would love to do a marathon soon. That is a DREAM. It is a wild "fancy," but not one of my immediate goals and aspirations yet!

There have been some complications with my next goal, aspiration, and dream! I WILL be in the classroom full time. That is my WILD fancy. However, I will make it a reality. I am doing it now in a non-traditional way I never thought I would be going down. But it will be accomplished.

I love looking at quotes and dictionary.com daily to inspire me. These 9 words about beginnings are great right now: http://dictionary.reference.com/slideshows/beginnings#incunabula

It is a new year and I will break that cliche of setting goals and then backsliding/ failing!

My favorite of the 9 words is Inchoate- "Oftentimes, the beginning stages of a project or idea are a little messy or imperfect. This word addresses that early state of disarray with three definitions: 'not yet completed or fully developed,' 'just begun or incipient,' or 'not organized; lacking order.' Etymologists trace inchoate to the Latin incohare, which originally meant 'to hitch up.' The root word cohum meant 'strap fastened to the oxen's yoke.' An inchoation is a beginning or origin."

Let's all survive this pressure & become diamonds together!
